721 switch compatibility

OK - I am conflicted, I have heard conflicting information.

Once and for all - I will try and boil my questions down to be as simple as possible.

Question 1 - Will a 721 work with SW21 switches?
Question 2 - Will a 721 work with just input1 from a SW21? (Assuming no second tuner of course)

#2 NO - you must hookup both.

That was my inkling. When I called tech to activate it they guy told me they are supposed to bump all 721, 921 calls to advanced tech. But because I was just activating it he said he would give things a try. I asked him about the dual cables required and he said no. I didn't want to pull my old 501 yet as my wife was recording ER or Without a trace or something. It DID download the latest SW but I never got a guide before I went to bed. I will hook up to both cables tonight and run a check switch then see where I am. Thanks for the input.
