721 recording on its own??!

After my hard drive failed and I got it going again,
now it is recording whatever it feels like.

I feel like its a Tivo now (from what I hear),
recording what it thinks you'll like.
Maybe that's part of the new software download??!

Anyhow, I have searched this forum and can't find anything like this happening with the 721.
Please advise.

Did you check the timers to see if something was programmed to record at specific times? If there are timers then delete them all. If the hard drive failed once it is likely to fail again. I would go ahead and schedule a RMA to get it replaced.

Yeah that is not part of the software something is wrong there. Sounds like it's time for a new one as long as you have done all of the reset tricks.

Received a "NEW?" 721 and had it installed yesterday. Seemed to work OK last night, but when I walked past it this morning the recording light was on - I knew I didn't have any timers set for today. checked the active timers and there were no active timers set for this AM. Manually stopped the recording and turned the unit off. About 10 minutes later it was recording the same show again. Pulled the card and did a reset and it seemed to fix the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this problem?
