A few weeks ago I returned from vacation and found my 721 with a hard drive failure. I love the receiver, but decided to make the switch to FIOS tv. Please don't hate me.

I tried to replace the hard drive with a 20 gig that I had laying around, but didn't really understand the replacement process. If I wanted to sell this receiver to someone willing to make the replacement, is there a market?

Thanks in advance.

If you were a supporting member of this site, you could list it on the classifieds; or you could try eBay; but with a bad hard drive, I don't know how much success you would have.

I think the 721 gets hit with a monthly DVR fee so it's less popular on eBay. DVRs like the 50x units do better.... As for replacing the drive, you can't just pick a drive at random. Well, maybe that's not true. From quick searching and reading at 'dishmod', I've seen a few posts that say the 721 doesn't seem to care what drive is used.

So... I called in and "moved" to Atlanta this morning, but...
