721 going wacky

My 721 is acting strange, and basically not working.

For the record, it still has a BLUE card, a yellow is on the way.

What is happening is that the picture will go blank. At this point, I can press GUIDE and get the guide, but no matter what channel I select, it goes to:

Ch 77 - Unknown Record

If I "reset" the unit, by power down or smart card reset, it works OK for a short time, then the picture will go out and the same situation happens.

Is this a function of the blue card?

BTW - I can still get to the menu, and the CHECK SWITCH works fine, and I have a strong signal on all sats, mostly in the 90's or high 80's.

Any ideas?

Are some people getting a phone call from Dish Network asking them to call back to get their card replaced? I had someone tell me today that they received a few automated calls telling them to call them back to get their card replaced. I thought they just sent them out in the mail.

Yes. Got the auto-call. Called the number, and spoke with a rep who verified my address and said they were shipping the card, and gave me an RMA to send the old card back. Very odd.

weird stuff, my 921 was doing that same crap when i first got it. Would hang on channels and give me that "unknown channel 77" stuff. I dont remember if anything i did fixed it. I think it just had to install the newer software (if ships with old software). A couple reboots and its been good. Havent seen a channel 77 thing in a few months. Hope the card helps.... sounds like a software issue to me. Think with the yellow card and they software you now have on your box is should be ok.

Maybe they decided that was cheaper than just sending out the cards and them ending up being at the wrong address or something.
