625 Question

Current Dish 721 user - looking to swap out my non DVR receiver for a 625.

My question is concerning the reliability of the machine. I saw some notes about audio cutting out. How often are you all rebooting your machines?

My Tivo friends look at me wierd when I tell them how many times I have to reboot my 721. I almost switched to Direct but the R15 is getting some bad feedback.

I hate to lock in for 18 more months with Dish if I'm going to have two machines with bi-polar personalities.

my 522 is WORLDS BETTER than my retired 721.

625 is basically a 522 with larger hard drive.

Upgrade to 522 is best decision I made in a long time!

I love my 625...I have issues with compression on my locals, but that isn't the DVR's fault...

I have gone several hours without experiencing an audio drop out, and if when, it's only for a second...NO MORE! I have had mine since Sept and have yet to re-boot except for power outages. Only problem is the new L291 software has affected the back and forward skip times, 5/33 as opposed to the original 10/30.

Yep - In this scenario, I'm keeping the 721 (even with it's quirks) and looking to add an additional DVR with the 625. Already have a quad LNB but currently only using 3 lines from it (2 for the 721 and one for the 4700 upstairs). I'm replacing the 4700 upstairs and trying to figure out how I'm going to get that 2nd coax line fished through the walls and floor.

I'd go into withdrawls without the DVR capability but have really had a continual battle nursing my 721. After awhile you start to forget that products and services that cost this much money really ought to work.

I just wanted to hear that things are "good" with the 625 before I'm forced to lock in for another 18 months.

The alternative I'm looking at is to drop Dish and grab two Tivo's with Direct.

Get a DPP Dual and Diplexors from Dish Store and you won't have to run another line through the walls. You then would only need one line each going to the 721 and 625
