622 W/O hi def package

Getting a 622 but don't need can't use hi def yet. Is this doable and will the OTA work and what will Dish charge me and will external HD work? sorry if this has been answered did a search no luck

Not sure about OTA working as i dont have it.

You have to pay the $6 HD enabling fee and your OTA will work fine, including any local HD you can receive over the air. Unless you subscribe to Dish locals, though, you will not see guide information for your locals. With the last price increase, I upgraded to whatever they are calling the package that includes the locals (DVR advantage or something like that), and it only ended up costing me about $3 a month for the locals, so I can now record one local (OTA) and watch another (via Dish) at the same time, and I get the guide info on the OTA locals as well.
