622 via HDMI --no volume.

I just hooked up my 622 with my hdtv last night. It was working fine. This morning I get picture but no volume.. Does this mean I have defective HDMI.
How do I check what version reciever I have.

You need to tell us more about your hook-up. Are you just connected to your TV or are you coming out of it to a receiver? Have you tried the fiber optic out? Re-seated the HDMI?

The reciever is connected directly to tv via HDMI.

So you get audio from TV only? Might want to check and see in your TV settings if internal audio is set for ON. Have you re-connected the cable? HDMI is NOT the the snuggest connector/plug. If still no go, it's either the port or the cable, probably the port.

My TV seems OK--replaced VIP622 once for no HDMI signal just stopped. My DVD recorder (RCA DRC8060N) passes the HDMI signal when recording but on playback there is no sound into Samsung HL-S5687, even 2 channel.
So no accounting for HDMI and sound.
