Activated my 622 yesterday. Waited a day and no locals (I do subscribe to them) called tech support and he said I see the problem you don't have locals. I said I have been paying for them right along and he said yup a glitch when you authorized yesterday they got dropped. Anyway I now have them. I have a new CM 4221 antenna and I can't pick up any OTA channels.
0 signal nothing when I scan.

My question I know you can't get OTA if you don't subscribe to locals is that somehow tied to my problem or not? I am only 5 miles away from one of the OTA towers yet 0 signal. Tried rabbit ears too, same result. Any insights?

where are you located? Go here: AntennaWeb and see what kind of antenna it says you need, and what digital locals are available. The 622 won't get analog locals.

You can get OTA without subscribing but the guide will show "Digital Service" instead of any useful info.

This is going to sound stupid, but are you sure you are plugging in the OTA antenna into the correct jack on the back? There are a number of them on the 622 and if you don't have it in the correct one you will not get an OTA signal.

*edit* see attachment for correct connection.

You might rule out if it is actually a 622 problem by testing another OTA digital tuner - perhaps you have one on your HDTV? That could be helpful in determining the problem.

All good stuff but I DO sub to locals they just failed to turn them on at first. I am only 5 miles from some stations a CM 4221 should surely do the trick. I do not have a HD TV yet so no other tuner to try. Not stupid, I thought of the wrong connection too so triple checked that

sounds like a bad ota tuner to me. I'm pretty sure San Jose should have some digital stations, but did you check AntennaWeb to confirm? 5 miles, a set of rabbit ears or a coathanger should work.

Make sure the tuner input is set for OTA/VHF/UHF and not cable

oljim nailed it it was set to cable I get 7 stations with rabbit ears now I will proceed with my CM 4221 installation which should do more Thanks did not see the the input note in the book but I scarcely read it cover to cover Thanks everybody. Had Dish for 9 years but first experience with OTA receiver stuff.

How are receivers shipped?

Separator doesn't work with diplexors in line to DPP44?
