/11/2007: 1000 Software Version L4.06 for ViP 622 DVR

Effective Thursday, July 12th, Engineering plans to spool a PARTIAL PHASE of software version L4.06 for the ViP 622 DVR receiver. This is primarily a non-forced maintenance release available at ALL satellite locations.
At this time L4.05 and L4.06 will be the valid software version for the ViP 622 DVR.

I think it's adding the new SS meter and the next guide display message when you're looking at your guide. The 211 has those two new features.

Let's say you're in the All Subs guide, a message in yellow text will display telling you what the next guide (in our example, the HD guide) is if you press the guide button.

How's it going Randall?Does that mean you will have to hit guide twice to go to the next guide?

Hey Smity,

No, you don't need to. It will just display in yellow text the next guide that's available to you. For most of us, it's not needed but believe me I know people that don't know that they can setup different favorite guides.

That new signal strength meter is a joke. I've been to several trouble calls in the last month because of customers calling in demanding a tech sent out becasue their signal is "low". I even had one where a DNS CSR sent me out becuase of low signal on a 322. I guess she didn't get the memo on the software update's effects. She never even had the customer check the 522 which read over 100% on the 119. I understand the purpose of the new meter, but I think they're going the wrong way with it. The dual tuners should read like the single tuners do. After installing a 1000.2 today on a 301 receiver, I had 124% on 119 and 91%on 129.

I am a returning "new" customer and had DISH installed this past weekend. I was exploring all the menus and noticed the low signal strength. However, there was text on my menu with a "signal strength dislaimer" addressing this issue due to a software upgrade. It stated something like the values would appear lower than actual.

On what receiver? So far the only ones that have the new SS meter are the 211s and the 322s. Yes, there's a disclaimer and if you select Help it also explains it there.

Here's the thread that talks about it:

You're right, that does flash on the screen. The only problem is that you are the 1 person out of 100 that happens to notice it.
