612 with HDMI audio issues

When I first turn on my tv and receiver, I get crackling audio over HDMI through my tv speakers. If I leave both on and unplug the HDMI from the back of the receiver and then reconnect, the audio sounds good again.

Anyone know if there is a real fix or should I call Dish and get a different receiver?

Most VIP receivers have glitchy HDMI. For me, my 722 and my Viewsonic TV don't always get the video handshake right, which is really annoying. What kind of a TV is it? Is using analog or optical audio an option?
