On DBS talk.com this is what else I found out when I asked about when we might be getting our missing CBS station here in the Panama City DMA.

"It won't be until DISH gets their "qualified carrier" status. That is the next step.

At the moment channel 7920 WTVY remains unavailable to everyone except DISH engineering. "

I have no idea what "qualified carrier" status means......????

I guess I believed all the hype about those of us in the 8 short markets were going to getting our missing channels today......

Guess we will just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

The HD and SD version of WICS was uplinked on the same spotbeam as the Terre Haute locals a few weeks ago, so hopefully the Terre Haute Dma will finally get a ABC afilliate in the near future! I really thought we would get it today?

Little Rock HD is on the 77 and the SD is on 110. Is there a new Eastern Arc Dish...61.5-72.7-77-110?

Under the new STELA rules, E* had to provide locals to all 210 DMA's. E* could then apply for a waiver of the injunction that prevented E* from providing distants. Once E* became a qualified carrier of all 210 DMA's the waiver would be granted and E* could then offer out of market networks to the short markets. It's all in the details. All the i's had to be dotted and t's crossed before E* could offer the out of markets networks to anyone.

Well Stu,

What confusing me is that both channels are provided by Dish. WTVY in Dothan, and WJHG in Panama City. Sounds like an easy fix.

As for NBC being provided for Dothan as someone mentioned. None of Dothan's Locals are in HD. So now I'm really confused.

I'm referring to DirecTV. Again, I don't live there so I can't confirm that it's WFSA, but since they are adding the Montgomery market within the next few months, that seems like the most logical NBC 12 for them to have added.

The list of channels in this thread that were made available, indicates that Dish now has "qualified carrier" status.

Any further missing channels must be due to either some sort of contractual issue between the station and Dish, or else a technical issue.

I would not be surprised to see further channels made available any time within the next 24 hours, as glitches are worked out...
