this is strange.

this afternoon i noticed i lost all signal on my 510. it is just doing the acquiring satellite signal over and over.
i have uplugged and replugged the power.
checked the switch and it says i have fewer satelites than last time.
uplugged and replugged the cable from the dish

one other thing i noticed is that i was browsing this forum a couple days ago reading about software upgrades to 4XX. so, i looked at mine and although i can remember the exact number, it was 3XX. now it is P401.

we have not had any rain, storm, wind. the dish itself is right where it has always been.

are there other things i should try?
one day i get readings in the 90s and 100s and the next day nothing.
odd.

i would appreciate if you knew of other troubleshooting i could do or if you would need more info than i have provided.

TIA

Sounds like an lnb went bye-bye.

Check all your connections.

Disconnect all lnb's from the switch, run check switch, reconnect run check switch.

thank you for the reply.

i will check the connections.

the strange thing about this is that i can get the signal back when i run check switch. then it will hold for a short period of time and loose the signal.

then, at about 8:30, the signal comes back and holds until the next afternoon and then it starts all over again.

in your experinces, is it better to try to find parts and replace them or have the dishnetwork tech come and diagnose it? which sounds to me like taking your car to the shop and it won't act broken.

thanx again,

Sounds like it might be a heat-of-the-day related lnb problem.

IF you still have Dish Home Advantage, the replacement of lnb's should be free. If you don't have it, get it temporarily to get the offending lnb or switch replaced.

Do a Menu, 6, 1, 3 for system info, see if it reports lnb drift.

glgeek,

I had the same problem recently. We'd start seeing 510 errors on the 622. Then, a couple of days later there seemed to be a cascading effect, because the other SD receiver would start to fritz out. Then, after another day, complete loss of reception.

First tech call resulted in no fix, because by the time he showed up everything was working again. Argh! ("If it's working when I show up, then I can't diagnose the problem".)

The problem occured again a couple of week later. Same symptoms and same loss-of-signal result. This time however, the tech showed up and replaced the the LNB and viola! It's been working great for over two months.
