This is one I haven't seen mantioned before.
I wanted to record one segment from Letterman the other night (Darlene Love). I set the timer to record the show and when it got to the commercial before the proper segment, I manually stopped the recording. I started a manual recording with manual stop when I thought the program was coming back on. However it was one of those short spots between commercials and not the show. Therefore I stopped the recording again and hit record again when the show actually started. Record light came on. After the segment was completed, I hit stop and went back to erase the other 2 segments. The only thing that was in the guide was the original timer recording. Both manual events never appeared.
So, by trying to avoid recording the big chunk of show I didn't care about, I lost the part I did care about.
