501 loses protected events

OK I have a 501 and I had some shows that were from 1-2 years old that were saved and protected. This week I noticed just about eveyrthing over 1 year old is gone. I live alone so noone else went in and deleted events. Is there some sort of max age an event can be? Did Dish download some code that made events past a certan age unusable? Nice deal Dish, what is the point of setting a show to PROTECTED if they wipe it with no warning!!
