4 vs 8 splitter

Does the 4 way swm splitter allow for 8 tuners or just 4 ? Wasn't sure if the 8 was only to accommodate 8 tuners when there are more than 4 receivers

It allows for four connections. Each one can be for a dvr, thus eight tuners.

Even a 2-way could hold 7 tuners - a 5-tuner Genie & a 2-tuner DVR.
