I had a tech who put up a 36" oval dish to get the viet channel. It was a no go. He wasa told the oval dish doesn't get H band. It just gets K band. Dtv said he needs to get the 36" round dish to get the viet channel. Has anyone here ever heard that before? If thats the case why didn't the make the oval dish to support H band?

The 36" dish is to be pointed at the 95W satellite that transmits on Ku band. It needs a regular DSS LNB (circular polarity) to get the 101W sat signal for the program guide for 95W and an FTA LNB (Horizontal and Vertical polarities) for the actual programming on 95W. It is bigger because the 95W Ku is a lower-powered signal, like the old Primestar signals.

Why would a tech who does not know international programming attempt to do this?
