I just recently purchased an R-16 DirecTV Plus DVRand was curious about smoething I read on one of the online retailer's websites. In their description of the SD DVR that they have available they mentioned the 30-second slip, which they said would allow you to "skip" through commercials when you record. I can't find anything about it in the manual I received. Any help??

30 s slip only allows you to slip 30s during playback not during recording.

If you have a buffer on a live show (ie hit pause for a few minutes) you can pres the above button to skip ahead 30 seconds up to 20x, then press play to cancel and it will revert back 6-10 seconds.
I know in the CE program you can "search" for 30SKIP and instead of a fast forward for 30 seconds, it will just skip ahead 30 seconds. Personally I like the FF as I tend to press the button 8 or so times and usually "miss" the show restarting.
