3 week old DVR having playback problems

Just started service three weeks ago with an HR24 This past week the DVR has started to have playback problems Sunday it would not play back a show that was being recorded until i rebooted the box after the recording was done prior to reboot i was only seeing a black screen. Monday night a recently recorded show had the same problem but this time the recording was no where to be found after the playback. Today we wetre about 3/4 of the way thru playback and were unable to fast forward playback would pause when attempting to FF Mon and Today were first attempted to be accesed via MRV. Any advice? Is the DVR dud and in need of being replaced? Thanks
 
do you know if the installer made sure to update the firmware on it before leaving? not saying that's the issue, but worth a look / try. you can go in the menu and post the version number here.

even if the installer didnt do a software update (via 0-2-4-6-8) the receiver should have taken an upgrade by now.
 
106 is very good, no problem there. It sounds like you may have a bad hard drive though.
 
call DirecTV ASAP while the installation is still under warranty and they will send a tech out to sort things out.
 
do a reboot (red button) and when the 1st screen comes up (welcome to Directv) press
