A friend of mine is getting into DishNetwork from cable. She is signing up under the Home Digital Advantage Plan, which requires $49 upfront. The sales rep told her that she has 48 hours to call in to cancel if not satisified. If that's the case, the $49 would be refunded back to the credit card and Dishnetwork will send 2 boxes to send back the 2 receivers.

The dish would remain on the roof, however.

Does anyone know if that's indeed true?

I can't find anything on http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/offers/disclaimers/dha/index.shtml about the 48 hour cancellation policy and how to return the equipments, etc. What's the truth?

Its generaly 3 days from the time you sign any contract is my understanding but dish had a 30day money back deal, it may still be going on so I would check the website or call back and ask to talk to a coach.

The Money Back Guarantee has been outdated since February, it is no longer available.

It is true in most states there's a reneg rule of two or three days from entrance into a contract. That said, I wouldn't experiment with DISH on it. The second half to the contract rule, is the contract reneg is generally only enforcable in the jurisdiction the contract is created in. That would be Englewood, Colorado for those keeping score. And in Englewood, nah uh... A contract is a contract is a contract.

Most of the people that try to play this game with DISH end up eating (and eventually paying) a cancellation fee. It averages $240.00 per account. They only managed to get away with it in California where you now pay $13.33 per remaining month of commitment under contract. ...Arnold needed votes.

When I added HD and got my 622 last year, the $13.33 per remaining month was what I was told by the CSR when I contracted for the HD and 622. I'm not in CA (yes, I know CSRs have been wrong before, but this one seemed quite knowledgeable), so this never applied to me? Just wondering... I'm not leaving E* anytime soon.

Most states have "buyer's remorse" laws..Usually 72 hours after the transaction is completed..So if a customer makes a purcchase, theortically he has 3 days to change his mind..Check with your state authorites for verification. To my knowledge, Dish has no such policy.
