2nd time installer screwed up!

So, last December I had Voom installed and 4 days later a heavy wind blew the dish around like a top. Instead of waiting for a revisit from the guy I went up myself and reaimed and tightened all the screws which were all only finger tight.
This past Saturday I had Dish installer over. He seems like he knows what he's doing. I told him about the first guy and he made some joke about it. He leaves and everything is fine. Then yesterday another heavy wind comes through while I'm watching TV and the signal goes away. I go out and look up at the dish. Guess what? It's pointing straight down into the ground!!! Don't these guys take any pride in what they do? How hard is it to make sure the bolts are tight. It aint nothing but the most important part of the install. Ok, I'm finished now. But I'm still mad!

Call Dish Network and tell them the situation and that you want credit for the hassle and time without service.

Was it a local dish retailer? or an installer that came from somewhere else after you called the 800 number?

It was an installer from somewhere. Not local. I did'nt want to wait around for him or someone else to come back. I've had to fix this situation before so yesterday I went up there (25ft) and realigned it myself. The bolt at the bottom of the pole was loose and the whole thing just tilted backward. There was only one bolt out of 4 that were tight.

No disrespect, but I think it's funny how everybody expects a guy with a PhD to perform a free install and are completely shocked when the kid making 12 bucks an hour makes an honest mistake. If skilled labor is what you want, then be prepared to pay a custom installer $75+ an hour for it. If free is what you want, the work will be on par with the pay. Just my 2 cents, flame away.

Up here in Canada; same story. I never let any of those ass clowns touch my house.

I have always installed my own satellite set up and my families as well. I can honestly say that I have the highest signal possible and my system is grounded properly.

I am a master electrician with an engineering degree and 35 years of experience in the installation industry.

Almost all of my work involves repair and reinstalls of so called "free" installs.

You get what you pay for; some 18-20 year old fresh out of high school with one or two days on the job training watching someone, who had the same training six months ago.

Don't expect high end custom jobs with the best of materials wit all in wall fishes.

It wasnt my choice to have someone install it for me. When I had the Voom installed I had no choice. There is no self installing permitted. I got a promo for Dish in the mail, called the number and was told an installer will be there next week. Ok, fine. If they had asked do you want him to leave everything and do the install yourself I would have said yes. Either way I would expect if a guy has a job installing sat systems it should'nt be too hard to make sure the dish bolts are tight. You dont have to be a scientist to know that.
