Could a mod please go ahead & both close this thread & then merge it with the play-off thread? I imagine that by morning time everybody knows about this,& it would be easier to debate it under one thread instead of two. I just did this separate thread as a breaking news type of thing,& it safely can join the play-off thread now.

If the balls would have had 2 lbs over the Colts still would have sucked, this is all we'll hear about for awhile...
colts have sucked a long time. they still woulda lost I think. but that's not the issue. it just seems that bellicheat does this habitually and how could the officials allow 11 bad balls? something smells

I'm thinking the NFL should adopt the college "Show Cause" rule and ban repeated rule violators (cheaters) like Bellichek. Maybe that will get some attention instead of paltry fines.

Oh crap,ESPN just reported that the NFL found 11 of 12 game balls allotted to the Patriots under-inflated.
Kinda hard to call 11 of 12 a fluke, unless of course we're talking about the one they forgot.

Though it's seems interesting that they were weighed before the game and not corrected prior to kickoff. Unless of course that official was in on it. Interesting times in New England.

Citing sources, Mortensen reports that of the 12 footballs weighed by officials before Sunday’s AFC Championship game, 11 of them came in under-inflated by two pounds of air (PSI) when weighed either after or during the Patriots’ 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Correction, turns out they found out at half time that the balls were deflated.

Exactly dfergie... personally, I would have also weighed the Colts balls (ironic considering the Colts didnt show any on Sunday)..this way, by comparison, you could eliminate "natural elements" as a cause for deflation, or rule it as a root cause.

IMO, Mr Kraft is an upstanding citizen and there is no way Patriots management would knowingly "cheat" under his watch and I sincerely doubt BB would have had any knowledge of this either nor condoned it. My guess is either it was an honest mistake, equipment issue or someone down the ladder did it on his own.

What I dont understand it this... refs touch the balls 100 times +/- per game... why didnt any of them notice it? It took a defensive player who rarely touches it to notice?

Also, big deal.... who cares! In the grand scheme of things, its done in every sport... hockey players use illegal sticks up until the 3rd period when there's a possibility they might be called for it.... Baseball players used corked bats and pitchers grease the ball and basketball players...well they coined the term "baby mama"

In the end, its sour grapes.. the Colts just scored 1 TD and Blount still had 3TD and 158yards on the ground.

Go ahead and take the Pats first rounder away....The Pats excel at finding gems in the later rounds.

Cheers, K

Well this is starting to stink. If the officials knew at halftime that the balls were deflated, why did they continue to use them and not bring out the ball pump gizmo?

Supposedly the "properly" inflated balls were changed out at halftime.

Here's Brady's splits by half.

@MarkDanielsPJ: Under-inflated in the first half: Brady 11/21 (52%), 1 TD, 1 INT. Regular inflated in the second half: Brady 12/14 (86%), 2 TD, 0 INT

So where's the cheating? Where's the advantage?

It's not that they won because they cheated, imo they would of won anyway, the problem is this coach just keeps on cheating.
