Weekend updates around the NFL

Running back Ricky Williams has signed with the Baltimore Ravens, a source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Monday.

Amazing how a team that has not been successful does not sign because he is not good enough for them, and then a better team scoops him up to play the same role his former team did not think he was good enough to play....LOL!

You have to wonder what's going on down in Miami.

Joe Robbie must be spinning in his grave.

Ownership has been plain dreadful. Hell, my Raiders and Al Davis may over pay on alot of player...and the players they have picked up have been way more misses than hits...BUT they are willing to try and they aren't afraid to take a risk. The ownership in Miami won't even come up and try to 'step up to the plate'

Don't know if any of this is true or if it is more of blaming someone who's not there any more.....

False prophet Bill Parcells ejected like a fighter pilot from a spinning plane about to crash into the mountains, somehow landing far away from debris and responsibility with the aid of his golden parachute. Throughout his career, his primary job has been to put people in the best position to succeed. He did not do that job in Miami, not in any way. In fact, he made the job he gave up harder than the one he had, putting his two most powerful pupils in position to fail.
....
But just as damning as the uncertainty left on the field is the unstable position in which Parcells has now left his hand-appointed friends. Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano are fighting to save their jobs in an environment so contaminated that Dolphin headquarters in Davie should be tented by exterminators, if not treated by exorcists.

Right on the money. The "legend of Bill Parcells" is more of coach and not a fron office man. As the section said above, he has left this franchise in shambles.

LOVE this part:

Belichick hasn’t won a playoff game in three seasons, but he can work off reputation like Parcells could. The league would be fearing Reggie Bush in New England instead of meeting him with yawning indifference here. Taking a receiver who spent the past two years in jail feels different in New York than it would in Miami, right? Less dangerous? Somehow, Burress and Santonio Holmes (also discarded by stable Pittsburgh for being a headache) isn’t viewed as poison for a young quarterback like it would be here paired with Marshall.

That is merely perception, though. But this part is real: As soon as Parcells evacuated the building and took his safety net with him, Ireland and Sparano tried his patented Chad Pennington bandage, compromising tomorrow for today. X-rays didn’t merely reveal an injury to Pennington after that choice; they revealed a fracture at the foundation of the franchise, at the very top of the organization. Sparano’s faith in Henne? Fragile. Henne’s faith in himself? Cracked. The trust in their relationship? A partial tear. Henne’s game devolved into cautious check downs. He wasn’t the same after that while Mark Sanchez, with similar experience and worse numbers, won under more stable management.

The elephant has left the room, but the smell remains, and this is something else left behind: His philosophy. His pupils keep trying to win with linemen, in the trenches, signing them for big money and drafting them high. Sparano, an offensive line coach all his life, embraces the antiquated idea of out-toughing teams, beefing up with elephants in a race now run by gazelles. Third-down passing and fourth-quarter passing have become more important than the grind-it-out way championed by Parcells and his pupils. The last three champions — Colts, Saints, Packers — threw the ball an insane amount. The Colts and Packers were in the lower half of the league in rushing, running the ball just to give the quarterback’s arm a rest. The Pats and Jets went after big-name receivers to keep up while the Dolphins drafted a center in the first round.

Heh, Tebow isn't even the 2nd best QB in the Broncos training camp so far.

Poor Brady Quinn, Tebow is #2 on the first official depth chart anyways.

As much as I like Tebow, I agree. Quinn is a much better QB that has never really gotten a chance.

The Dolphins new ownership is more concerned about famous part-owners than wins and losses.

I'm gonna assume that next year, when the Marlins are complete out, they can really generate some money.

I seriously hope they are not trying to compare Sanchez and Henne ....
The numbers may be similar, but the Jets have been a MUCH better and STABLE enviroment for Sanchez than what Henne has to work with.

The quote from the article you quoted just said that.
