I wonder if this is the first time a #6 seed has held home ice?
I think in 2006 (the return from the lockout) seeds #5,6,7, and 8 won the first round in the west. Edmonton went to the finals that year.

Combining that with given San Jose's shaky playoff history, Chicago's somewhat inconsistent goaltending, and Vancouver's up-and-down play at times, there is a decent chance we may end up with Detroit-Pittsburgh III. (three years in a row of the same two teams- what do you think of that possibility?)
It would suck for most real Hockey fans but the bandwagon fans and VS/NBC would be happy.
Although payback would be nice for stealing the cup last year, I think most fans would not welcome another Wings-Pens matchup. However, a Detroit vs. Pittsburgh Part Trois seems like the most likely scenario. In the East I don't see Halek duplicating his out-of-his-mind effort and I don't think the winner of Philly/Boston can elevate their game to win the conference final. In a West San Jose has never demostrated their can boost their performance level to where it needs to be in the playoffs, and Chicago/Vancouver both have concerns that you've raised. We shall see...Combining that with given San Jose's shaky playoff history, Chicago's somewhat inconsistent goaltending, and Vancouver's up-and-down play at times, there is a decent chance we may end up with Detroit-Pittsburgh III. Great minds...twisted minds..not much difference.I see great minds think alike, Riff! Our posts went up at the almost the same time.
Getting pumped-up about tonight's game in the Shark Tank - it should be a good one! I'm also excited that I will be attending games 3 and 4 at The Joe. I'll be sitting in the Legends Club for Game 3...sounds good, but I have no idea if those seats are primetime or in the outhouse; I'll be sitting in section 121 for Game 4.
Anyway, don't forget to vote for the series winners at ESPN: SportsNation Polls - SportsNation - ESPN According to the ESPN fan poll Pittsburgh is an overwhelming favorite to beat Montreal, Detroit and Chicago are heavily favored to win their series, and Boston vs. Philadelphia is dead even.
I would have voted for both teams if I thought they were going to win. To be honest, I feel that NHL fans are some of the most intelligent and unbiased in all of professional sports...outside of the immediate home area, of course. You're not going to get many Canadiens to vote in an ESPN poll...I bet the TSN poll has Montreal and Vancouver as favorites!
Sandra
You only say that because your team would be out. For me I would like to go against Vancouver or San Jose.
We beat Detroit, Chicago and the North Stars for cups, need some new teams to face.

Something just tells me the Canucks are a very dangerous team, I'm going to be very interested in seeing what happens in that series against Chicago
