2010-11 NBA Basketball Season

Here's how long ago it was since the Cavs won:

the Jaguars were in the driver's seat to win the AFC South

the Packers were on the verge of possibly missing the playoffs

I had a beard :D

Inbteresting speculation in the New York Times today. The Lakers might get to swap Bynum for Dwight Howard next year.

Howard is in the last year of his contract next year. Bynum is technically in the last year, but his contract has a team option for one more year. They can be swapped because their contracts are close enough.

The Lakers are at $92 million for this year and next. Orlando is at $75 million each year. Orlando will have to deal away Howard because if he walks, they will still be within $4 million of the current cap, and you can't even buy a good back-up center for that price.

I see I botched the construction of the second paragraph in the preceding post #948, which should have read, "Howard will be in the last year of his contract next year. Bynam will be in his last year." The Laker's contractual option is to secure Bynam for 2112-2113.

Miami just can not beat the celtics, PERIOD!

Not worried one bit. Because with Boston being 3-0 against Miami, they only own a 1/2 game lead over them. As long as Miami is the #2 seed, hell, even #3 seed, they will be fine and hopefully healthy and fully loaded.

Today, Boston proved that to beat them, you have to play a FULL 4 quarters. Miami was better than them for 3....and that is not enough.

That, and regular season success does not matter a lot come playoff time.

Just because you beat a team in a season series does not give you a free pass in the postseason.

The most vivid one I recall was the 1989 Chicago Bulls. They were oh-and-6 angainst the CAVS in the regular season and Michael and the "Jordanettes" won the series 3-2 on "the shot". I am sure there are plenty throughout the years, but without researching, that is the main one that comes to mind.

Hell, even Paul Pierce knows it:

"They're going to be a different team in March and April, the more important months, when we'll probably have to see them again," said Paul Pierce, who was 0-for-10 from the floor and scored just one point. "It gives us the series in case something happens with a tiebreaker."

He ain't dumb, he knows that when playoff time comes around....the regular season means nothing.

The playoffs are gonna be fun.

you're right my friend but i'm still a little worried. it has to be sitting in the back of their minds that even though they played them the best they have so far this season ,it still wasn't enough. I just don't want this to become a mental issue for miami. you know what i mean. they started well but that 2nd quarter was a mess with all those turnovers. you have to play a pretty flawless game against this celtic team. and as already mentioned the celtics didn't have their big guy which can present some issues for the heat later on. we'll see......

thats the other thing to think about. pierce didn't have a single point i believe. i don't think we got the best of them yesterday :( . and yet we still lost
