2009 MLB Playoffs

As a neutral fan (which obviously I've been reduced to :( :D), I always root for the best possible matchup in the World Series. Two good teams that are evenly matched, that will hopefully give us a 6 or 7 game series.

IMO, that matchup this year would be Angels-Phillies.

I just don't think the Phillies match up well with the Yankees, or the Dodgers or Rockies match up well with either the Angels or Yankees.
Really?

I think the Dodgers and Roxs will handle the Yanks much better than the Phils. The Phils offense is more of an AL type offense, but the Dodgers and Roxs have much better pitching.

We all know, the best ratings match up possible will be the Dodgers and Yanks. Two east coast or two west coast teams playing each other will be a ratings disaster (although I personally would not mind seeing a freeway series).

DK,

That is why I am thrilled the Yankees won last night. Now both the Angels and Yankees will have equal amount of days off before the start of the ALCS.

And, BTW, I in no way meant to cheapen the NLCS. You know I'll be watching that very closely. Maybe a Freeway Series is in store for us.
:up

Phillies/Yankees, the series I'd be the most interested in, is a double-edged sword.

From on on-the-field point of view, a slugfest would make for great theatre. But from a ratings point of view, it may not be good.

This would be a better World Series .. am sure alot here agree with me.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim -vs Los Angeles Dodgers

If that's the matchup it should just be televised on Prime Ticket. Why would anyone outside of SoCal care?

Bill,

Before you posted :
To I'm sure no one's surprise, it will be Lackey vs. Sabathia as the ALCS gets underway Friday night in the Bronx.Game time is 7:30 ET on Fox/Fox-HD.

I haven't seen that anywhere else. All I see is TBD. Any insight as to that? I admit that makes the most sense but they might want a "prime time" start meaning 8PM.

If they start the first game at 8:00 ET, then the second game has to start at 11:00 ET at the earliest so they don't overlap. East coast people complained about the Phils playing until 2:00am for a game that started at 10:00 ET, they would complain even more if it started an hour later. Not only that, us West Coasters will not be happy about an 8:00pm PT start here. That is way too late for me to watch my Dodgers play. I cannot stay up until 11:00 (more likely midnight) to finish watching the game.

DUH! I forgot about that other game. ;) Then I guess it's a 3:07 and a 6:37 EDT again?

KCK,

I got the game time off my Fios program guide, which obviously isn't gospel.

I just recall talk, after last year's World Series, that Selig wanted to move the LCS and WS start times earlier.

Thanks to you and DK, I think we have it all nailed down.

Rocks just took a lead in the 8th 4-2!;)
