Wow, just when I thought us 811 owners were always the last to get any OpenTV apps, here's an advertisement for the new Mercedes M-Class on Dish Home. Shows up on the Home Page as well as the Shopping Menu. Of course, Sharper Image still doesn't work on the 811, but selecting the Mercedes Info brings up a nice little "interactive" brochure.
One of the options is to "Experience It", which lets you know of a location near you (I assume; it gave me Chicago's Hawthorne Racetrack on June 3-5th.) and a web site to register at. I'll be nice and tell you it's www.mclassroadrally.com/ride
Now, if this is for 811 owners only, this would be a great use of an exclusive delivery channel for Mercedes. If, you assume, that all 811 owners have spent at least $2,000 for their 811/HD Setup, they probably have disposable income that would fit the market demographics of Mercedes M-Class owners. The only thing the programmer missed on was publishing it with low-rez and overly compressed images. This would be so kick-a$$ if it was done in 1920x1080 or even 1280x720!
Has anybody else with an SD OpenTV receiver seen this ad?
