I have 4 receivers, 2 have been off for about a year. Since i hate calling Dish, will they eventually reauthorize themselves, or do I really need to call.
The 2 do get the guide, nearly all and what I should get are in red. The non red are the shopping, nasa and a couple of others, the are viewable.

I used to run on solar power and had to unplug the boxes I wasn't using. When I plugged them back in, sometimes they would come right back, other times it would take 24 hours or so. One time I had a 3900 that I called for a rehit on and it still didn't come up, so the CSR told me the receiver was toast. 12 hrs later, after leaving it exposed to the stream, it began to work. My first hint that CSRs were not in the technical loop...

I'd say leave them in the stream for overnight and then see whats happening.

Good luck, Eric

Have you been paying the extra receiver fees to Dish for the last year? If so, that's $100 you'll never get back.

You will need to call Dish with the receiver R and S numbers to get anything other than public access or shopping channels. I doubt that they'll reauthorize themselves.

I am so pissed off at Dish Network right now I could scream. I have had so much trouble activating used Dish Network receivers lately that it is pathetic and thought about quit selling these used receivers to people. One receiver that I had I was told that it was cleared by Dish Network and can be activated. I was a retailer and got it cleared that way. When I tried to call in and get it activated they said there was a huge balance on it. Not very happy since I was on an installation. The spare receiver would not function. Customer was not happy and I got the brunt of blame as a result. He was also not happy that it took over an hour to get the system activated. I figured someone would help me get the receiver cleared but have had no help with that and the guy calls me back and says he is going to sue me in magistrate court if I do not have his box to him in two days or his money back. I tried explaining to him the situation but he had made up his mind. We were to get a big winter storm over the weekend but he didn't care, he was going to file against me if he didn't get what he paid for.

Two other receivers could not be activated because they required new cards in which they wanted to charge me for and they used to never charge for those. I had to get the warranty back on my account to get cards shipped to me for free in which Dish Network should do for free regardless since it is not my fault they cannot keep their system secure. That is just another way for Dish Network to make a lot of money off of cards they buy for $5-10 and sell for $50.

Another receiver I had that I finally thought I could get activated would not activate. They told me smart card reader must be bad. I figured that was hogwash. I tried activating it on my account and it got activated immediately. I had some other receivers that got new cards that also would not activate correctly and had to have rehits sent down and sometimes that would not work. It took a lot of work to get these activated. I have to make sure these work before selling these to customers. It was such a pain dealing with Dish Network and receivers not activating. I am definitely not happy with Dish Network right now. It gave me a bad name to one guy.

If the receivers are still subscribed, you can send a hit through the automated phone menus if you do it correctly. Call Dish, then go through the tech support menus to find the "error code" selection or something. Enter 013 (or whatever code it shows on channels you are subscribed to) and then say "Yes" when it asks if they used to get those channels. It'll then send a hit automatically. I believe somewhere in the process you need to tell it what receivers they are (do the process twice).

Or do a tech support chat and ask for a "rehit".
