2 Hoppers share timers?

I've looked and searched everywhere even reading the Hopper manual, but can anyone tell me if timers need to be set individually/independently for each Hopper or can they be set up on one Hopper, and if tuners are not available, they are automatically recorded to the available Hopper? It seems this would make it a very seamless and transparent way to be true whole home DVR. I know you can access recordings across/between Hoppers but deciding where/which Hopper to record programs could be tough with kids shows, PTAT, sports, etc.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Yes. They need to be set up individually on the hoppers. Once recorded, they can be accessed from any viewing location via the drop down menu in the dvr screen.

I just had 2 hoppers with sling installed yesterday. I cannot access recordings between Hoppers. I thought I would be able to see any recording from any location (whether it was a Hopper or a Joey). I just called in to Tech Support and he said I could not share recordings. Can someone tell me either way? Thank you

2 Hoppers connected to the same duo node can see each others recordings. I would reboot the Hoppers to see if that corrects it. If not, maybe the tech used two solo nodes for some reason instead of a duo node. Do you have a Joey, can it see both in the DVR menu?

I would reboot also, if that does not work, if you can see the node it says clearly solo or duo. Should be easy to tell.

Also, are you (not you, the person you were replying to) looking in the right place? When you press DVR, it will be one of the drop down menus towards the top, more to the left side (I THINK it is the grey option, but am not totally sure on the color). Click it, and it should let you choose which hopper to look on.

When you press DVR button it is the drop down option to the right of the red drop down and yes, it's grey and will display the location name of the Hopper you are viewing from.

It is definitely a Duo Node...it says 185836 next to it as well. The installer capped off the 2 inside ports. I only have a 2 Hopper with Sling setup (no Joeys). I press DVR and it says My Recordings and shows PTA, Rentals, Deleted. I do all the drop downs and shows nothing in regards to the other Hopper. I have both connected to Ethernet as well. I can go into network setup in either Hopper and both are seen by the other with a message that says "press select to link". I hit select and it highlights the remote Hopper but that is it. I hit Save and nothing. Would love for this to work. I will reset both again and see. Thanks.

You don't need to do anything with the Whole Home screen. Those capped ports, I'm assuming they are the two To Client lines and your Hoppers are connected to the outside Host ports? If the reboot doesn't fix it, you could wait until tomorrow to see if the first nightly update corrects it, but normally it should work right away. I would personally wait till tomorrow but after that i would get a tech back out to check out the node. I attached a picture if my DVR menu.

Well no luck this morning. Last night I noticed one hopper said he received an upgrade with ability for OTA, etc. this morning the other one said it received the upgrade. Still no ability to see other hoppers recordings and no second gray column like in your picture. I noticed in another thread someone is having the sr problem and they said their MOCA meter is gray as is mine. Would this be a problem with new HWS or should that matter? I may call my installer and see.

How about pressing YELLOW, go to diagnostics, then system status on both receivers. In the MoCA section, are there four green bars on both receivers?
I seem to be having the exact same issue. On mine, in the MoCA section, there are four greyscale bars (not green).
Also, if you go to the network setup screen, does it allow you a choice of Wired Top Port, Wired Bottom Port, MoCA, and Wireless? Are all of these choices available or are some greyed out?

MOCA is greyed out on all. I also have gray bars and not green.
