I live in a state without sales tax, just a 30 minute drive from Boston, and I can spit my gum from my driveway into Massachusetts. I got that channel when it was on 211, between C-Span and C-Span 2. Never seen it on 201. But I do know that every few years cable does potition Washington to create a Satellite Tax, because they are pissed that we aren't paying for use of their system and wires. I will never see it in my state, because of the lack of sales tax.

Battleground: The Satellite Broadcasting & Communications Association (SBCA) says it is "vigorously fighting an unfair" proposal in Utah that would provide an additional tax break for cable customers but not subscribers of satellite. At issue is a bill that would require satellite subs to pay a 6.25% state excise tax on their monthly service bills. The group says current tax law in Utah keeps satellite TV customers from benefiting from a 50% franchise fee exemption that subscribers to cable TV receive. If the legislation should pass, the SBCA says cable subs would pay only a 1.25% tax on their bills.

That's bull considering that eventually cable uses satellites to get their signals. That's a mob mentality, make the sat subs pay more because we don't use the middle man. Right!

right most of cable programing is from a sat that cable picks up with a sat field. locals are sometimes directly input via cable from the local station
