14 guage speaker wire question

I just bought a 14 guage speaker phillips speaker wire and both ends are gold. So, how do you know which one is negative? Isn't negative supposed to be silver?

The outer insulation should have a white or black stripe running down the length of one side of it.

It doesn't matter which you use on which polarity, as long as you keep them the same and match them correctly; speaker end and amp post.
