12 Foot Mesh Dish & Uniden 9000 Receiver

Talked to a guy today who is selling a 12 foot Mesh Dish with Rotar and a Uniden 9000 Receiver for $200.00 OBO. Asked him if it worked and he said that he wasn't sure since he hadn't used it for 5 years and the Motor might need greasing!! He said it was on his roof held down by concrete curb slabs and he had to re - shingle his house so he had to remove the dish from the roof. The guy lives way over on the other side of town or about a 30 minute drive away.

Does anyone know anything about this Dish / Receiver combo?

Might be a bear to take down but I'd take a drive over to see it. If the dish is in halfway good shape, and not 60' off the ground, you might round up a couple of helpers, take it off the pole and haul it back home. Depending on what brand dish it is, it may come apart in 4 sections, or a whole lot more.
Uniden made a pretty good analog receiver , I have a 4600 and a 9900 (receiver and motor controller in 2 sep boxes connected by a cable on the 9900) A 12' will bring in a super signal if its a good shape!

I just drove 50..60 miles (one way) today, to get a TV wall-hanging bracket from MonoPrice . Com
About $40, but I saved on shipping! ... and got to decide between two models.
So, no sympathy for the 30 minute jaunt.

Go take a look and if you like it, offer to remove it and haul it away for a mere $200 disposal fee.
Lot of labor you'll be putting in to haul it down, cart it all away, and leave him a clean roof!

Just don't let Liinuxman hear about the NPR mount, or he'll beat you to it!
Spirit the whole thing away - someone will want any parts you don't use.
Sounds like a heck of an offer.

Just don't take that motor loose from the dish without help!! A 12' is heavy, even mesh ones. Remember that line from the old rock song about the calliope crashing to the ground? lol
