Equipment:
Dish 500
Legacy Quad LNB
1 Single 6000 Receiver

Current Status:
100+ Signal on Transponders 11 and 12 for both 110 and 119 Sats

Issue/Question:
All channels receive properly except for those on Spotbeam 5
Sat 119. Those channels display the "signal lost.." dialog on
the screen. Is this most likely an aiming issue??

Most likely you need an inline amplifier between the lnb and reciver. That should boost your signal up. Make sure you buy the amplifier optimised for satelite frequencies.. 550-2150mhz atleast

what channels are you trying to get on Spotbeam 5?
If you're not within the spotbeam, it aint going to work :)

Excuse my ignorance here guys, just what is the area of a spotbeam.. I take it spotbeams are localized?

they vary in size.... but yes spotbeams are localized so that they can re-use the same frequency on more areas of the US

I believe 119 spotbeam 5 is for Phoenix, AZ local channels.
If you don't live near Phoenix, that would explain why you don't get the signal.

TP5 is a spotbeam for the following locals
Reno, NV & Chico, CA (one spotbeam)
Phoenix, AZ (another)
St Louis, MO & Grand Rapids, MI (another)
Houston, TX (another)
Charlotte, NC (another)

so unless you are within these areas, it isnt going to work. I'm in MN and don't get TP5 at all :)

I had almost the exact same problem with my 721 recently. Although the solution somewhat suprised me, the problem turned out to be a faulty DishPro dual LNBF. Dish sent me a new DishPro LNBF and the problem went away immediately after I installed the LNB's.

Since you're running legacy quad, I'm not sure if my solution will provide you any useful information but maybe it will...

Please be careful when dispensing advice. NO amplifier is needed.

Note the OP said: "100+ Signal on Transponders 11 and 12 for both 110 and 119 Sats"

11 & 12 are the standard transponder numbers used when measuring signal strength. 100+ is A+ top-of-the-line your installer deserves a beer quality.

Is VOOM coming soon on Dish Network?
