Tiger on Sergio: We didn't talk

Source

"Doing his best to move on from the controversy with Sergio Garcia, Tiger Woods on Tuesday said there hasn't been time for an apology for the Spanish star's "fried chicken'' comments from three weeks ago.

Woods, speaking at a news conference at Merion Golf Club in advance of the 113th U.S. Open, referenced their Monday handshake on the driving range in which it was believed Garcia attempted to set up another time to talk.

"No, we didn't discuss anything. Just came up and said, hi, and that was it,'' Woods said. Asked if Garcia apologized, Woods said: "It's already done. We've already gone through it all. It's time for the U.S. Open and we tee it up in two days.''

Asked later for clarification on whether or not Garcia apologized, Woods said: "No, we haven't had time for that.''

Phil Mickelson skips Open practice

Source

" Phil Mickelson was not at Merion Golf Club on Tuesday preparing for the U.S. Open because he headed home to San Diego, where he will attend his daughter's eighth-grade graduation.

Mickelson, who turns 43 on Sunday, was at Merion last week for two days before heading to the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, where he shot the last three rounds in the 60s and finished tied for second, two shots behind winner Harris English.

Mickelson arrived at Merion on Monday but was unable to get in much practice due to the severe weather conditions that twice caused United States Golf Association officials to close the course.

Mickelson said in a statement released Tuesday that he had always planned to attend his daughter Amanda's graduation ceremony. But because of the poor weather at Merion, he left early so he could practice at home."

Meanwhile, Phil has pretty much been a non-factor in any of the events he's participated in this year. Perhaps his age, along with his psoriatic arthritis, is catching up with him? Time is certainly not on his side.

Mere hours before the they tee off tomorrow morning and not one post about the US Open? The US Open!!! Alright, I'm done with the Sports Forum...I can't take off-season football threads (who the bleep cares about draft picks, training camp, conference alignment and fantasy leagues during the summer? - nobody should) being sticky'd or NASCAR being sticky'd for a 11-1/2 months-out-of-the-year when auto racing season is only Memorial Day through Labor and perhaps two weeks in November. Golf Majors, Tennis Majors, MMA and Boxing Championships, Soccer, Triple Crown Horse Racing...almost nothing. There's more discussion about these sporting events in the Chit Chat, Prime Time and the Entertainment Providers Forums. Hell, I hate basketball and I post in the NBA Championship thread because a) it's a sport and b) it's topical.

The media just won't let it go. It's done and over with move along...there is nothing to see.
