In Orlando the old PBS affiliate WMFE went out of business on June 30th and a new PBS in Orlando went HD WBCC aka WUCF, Dish still asleep to this PBS HD affiliate change. Fools.

in some cases that is why. Bandwidth is why some markets get it sooner
same as here in MN. Duluth got their PBS in HD quicker than Minneapolis did.

KERA-13 is the PBS station in Dallas, which we have in the Tyler DMA since we don't have a PBS "locally" to us. I didn't see it on the list in HD for DISH either. Dallas is a top 10 DMA too....

Why can't DISH uplink the HD versions of all local channels and then have the receivers that don't do HD automatically convert them to SD format for those users? Wouldn't that save some bandwidth?

They do that on EA already. But on WA they have receivers that don't do 8PSK and MPEG4 out there still.

I have it, I have top250. It does not seem to say freeview, so could it actually be part of the package? A little surprised it would be put on sats other than 118, but if it's part of my package it is a very good addition for me. Also Channel 280 seems like a strange place to put it, unless it's part of Blockbuster now? I suppose 265 CCNEWS is somewhat close to it....

Beaumont already had HD locals for quite a while. Those are the Beaumont, TX stations for the Lake Charles, LA DMA since Lake Charles only has a NBC, PBS, and FOX technically in their DMA. Those stations have also been up for a while. They moved them off of 77 onto 61.5 CONUS. They flipped them to the 62xx range so people that didn't have 61.5 could still get their locals after calling in saying their locals are gone. Not sure why someone would have an odd ball setup of 110/119/129 w/ 77 wing though, but you never know with the installer trying to force something in or being lazy and just adding 77 wing when they already had a WA dish with no locals before the locals were added.

Ahh, gotcha. I wonder if cable cos have to follow that rule too? The local cable co provides Tyler locals in HD and also includes all but CBS for Dallas, but in SD.
