hello, newbie to site. just hooked up 211 rec. with componet cables and in setup selected 1080i worked great. hooked up with hdmi cable and it is showing only half the screen. switched to 780p and i works. whats the deal. thanks

Most TV's can accept either 1080i or 720p. If your TV is 720p (1280x720) then they'll look the same to you. If your TV is 1080p (1920x1080) and you're set at 720p then it won't look as good on your TV if the station is broadcasting anything higher than 720p.

Depends on your TV.. If will do 1080i should not be a issue... Might hit your format button also check the setting there.

Had this happen to me once. Nearly pulled my hair out. Turns out my TV has a setting to accept RGB and it accidentally got switched to that and really had me losing my mind. It took me a whole day to figure out the problem. Once I switched the input on the TV all was fine.
