*-I intend on seeing - one day
#-Regardless of the acclaim, I never intend on seeing.

Oops, I seem to have missed one.

I too have about a 50% "saw it" rate on that list. Some I really have to question. Others I would like to have seen on there for various reasons, but why challenge the list ??

I guess this presents yet another "Bucket List" for me...speaking of which...?!?

I've seen 93 of these movies. It would have been 94, but I turned off "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" after 15 minutes. I couldn't stomach that movie. There were several others that I though were terrible movies on that list (Like anything touched by Woody Allen) but overall these are some of the most important movies (culturally) of all time.

I have to agree, only a couple I question, other than that, a very well put together list.

I've seen 92 and perhaps 93 (foreign film). I agree...some were not that good and, as much as I loved it, I have a hard time justifying why Fast Times at Ridgemont High would make the list.

My guess is how that movie connected with the culture of the time and the way that it was quoted and remembered by anyone who saw it. By that standard "Airplane" belongs on the list. Of course Fast Times was the first notable movie credit to so many celebs and was an icon for anyone who grew up in the 70s!
Nicolas Cage
Jennifer Jason Leigh
Phoebe Cates
Sean Penn
Judge Reinhold
Forest Whitaker
James Russo
Eric Stoltz
Anthony Edwards
Robert Romanus
And of course the first time most of us got to see "Uncle Martin" since My Favorite Martian was canceled. :)
Now just remember the sage words of Spicoli: "People on ludes should not drive"

See ya
Tony
