    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

Do you have any recommendations on brands/model or all the all pretty much the same? Thanks! Also thanks rglore & Pepper, I appreciate the insight. FTA seems like a cool hobby but I guess there's a lot of bad info out there.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

I was under the impression most of the satellites used circular. If that's not the case then I was given incorrect information and my initial post was just a big waste then since those LNB's wouldn't be compatible afterall. Figures... Sorry for wasting everyones time.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

Well, when people keep going on and on about why would you possibly want to use DishPro technology..... I'd think the fact the advantages of the technology are obvious. Simple setups... It's the reason DishPro technology was developed to begin with.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

Four pages worth of thread and finally two replies, both from you, that are helpful. Voltage and tone is ruled out so the answer is diseqc commands (which is what all the other Dish switches use). It's possible the LNB uses a non-compliant commandset though. It's actually not a moot point if...

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

I'm not talking about both being available simutaneously, just both being available on each of the 4 ports. I'm not sure what you're implying here but DishPro technology is clearly superior in that it allows you to send both polarities down a single RG6 line without the need for a switch...

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

I asked that the other thread be deleted, not merged but whatever... I know exactly what I am asking and so do the other people (including installers) I've asked, they just didn't know the correct answer... If you don't understand the question then I am likely asking something that is beyond...

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

As I've already stated, "The DishPro Quad can operate in 3 different modes. I am asking how exactly the ird, or rather the "Check Switch" command, tells the DishPro Quad to switch into one of it's alternate, meaning not default, modes. It's doing it either by tone on/off, voltage changes, or...

    VERY difficult problem with remote

Sounds like a design flaw with the remote. Device selection buttons should not be transmitting a signal of any kind. The buttons are nothing more then a toggle switch between different codesets. For example, a codeset for your tv, a codeset for your dvd player, a codeset for your stereo, etc.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

I am not trying to change any "Check Switch" settings. The DishPro Quad can operate in 3 different modes. I am asking how exactly the ird, or rather the "Check Switch" command, tells the DishPro Quad to switch into one of it's alternate, meaning not default, modes. It's doing it either by...

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

The question makes perfect "sense" and since it's a technical question, it belongs in the sub-forum specifically for such. If you don't understand what I'm asking, or don't know the technical answer, please don't bother responding. There's no need to hassle me about it.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

I know you can change the output mode of the DishPro Quad by using the "Check Switch" feature on Dish ird's. My question is does anyone know how exactly "Check Switch" does it? Tone on/off, voltage change, diseqc commands, ??? The default mode of the DishPro Quad is: port 1 - 119 port 2...

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

My apologies, it seems I've posted my question in the wrong forum... I didn't notice there was a sub-forum specifically for technical questions. I'll re-port my question there where it's more appropriate.. To any moderators: Please delete this thread. Thanks.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

That's simple, just to use the DishPro technology. Meaning, able to send both polarities down a single run of RG6. It's a much more convenient way to transport the signal and eliminates the need for unnecessary switches.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

As per the instruction manual for a "DishPro Quad", the device has different modes of operation. The mode is selected by whatever happens during a "Check Switch" from a Dish ird. The "Check Switch" is either using tones, voltage changes, or diseqc commands to set the mode of the "DishPro...

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

Funny, everyone I've ever talked to, including installers seems to think "twin" is a reference to the fact that there are two lnb's contained in a single housing. Hence a single lnb can receive 1 orbital positions while a twin can receive 2. Anyways, as I said... Semantics.

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

I am talking about a DishPro Twin, meaning it receives two orbital positions, with quad output. You know, a DishPro Twin LNB that has 4 output connectors? If the 'proper' name is DishPro Quad then I guess I'll edit my original post but I can't imagine semantics would make this so confusing..

    Question about DishPro Quad modes..

Question about DishPro Twin Quad modes.. I know you can change the output mode of the DishPro Quad by using the "Check Switch" feature on Dish ird's but my question is does anyone know how to engage those modes without an ird? What exactly does "Check Switch" do? Tone on/off, voltage change...
