    So I bought a Skystar 2

No, I had to manually add 97' to the list of birds. There were like 5 preset ones and they were all Euro sats. Hotbird, and something that starts with an A etc. It has a blindscan, you select the steps and min/max scan limits. Does anyone have any experience setting this card up on a linux...

    So I bought a Skystar 2

Right now I'm just using whatever software came with the card. I'd like to be able to move my dish tho. I've got version *.6 and it has blindscan as well.

    So I bought a Skystar 2

I'm not exactly sure how to set this all up. I'm pretty sure theres no way to run USALS, so can I split my line to my receiver and to my computer? I guess I could slave? But that limits me to either ver or hor right? Anybody who has one of these things have any tips? From what I've tried it...

    Blindscanning

I've been looking @ the skystar 2 2.6 and think I may try it. I've got a linux box that looks like it will do the job. Does anyone run a skystar 2 on linux? Would you recommend it? I don't really feel like buying another computer for just 1 job.

    Blindscanning

I'm no pro @ this sort of thing, I'm not exactly sure how transponders work and if they change etc. But could you just compile a big ass list of channels and not delete them out instead of manually entering everything all the time? Also, how easy is it to manually enter these things?

    new fortec HD specs

Yep, I'm gonna be buying one of these if it does 422 and blindscan. Video Preview

    Blindscanning

I'm curious how you are supposed to find channels without blindscanning? Do some of the secondary software companies do the scanning? I'm really not sure how this works, but I need to get a box thrown together and get something setup in the next week or so.

    Question about alignment using meters

For 600 bucks you can buy a laptop and do a video chat to a camera looking @ your tv screen as a meter.

    I'm missing something

yeah, thats what I'm saying. I guess you could say 'boxing' in spanish and judging by your post I would guess we're on the same page. Anyway, I'm on a smallish dish, I think it may be 80-90(planned upgrade, and a lot of the content is 422 which doesn't work with 422 anyway. But I would expect...

    I'm missing something

I have a merc 2, but some feeds aren't shown that are listed on message boards. I'll try and remain a little vague, but as an example, theres a sat that shows very few transponders on lyngsat but is constantly providing backhauls outside of what lyngsat says it should.

    I'm missing something

When doing a blind scan do I have to have all of the transponders already set or does the box snoop around for you?

Is the golf signal pretty weak?

Yesterday I could get 4 channels, 1 was running very low. Today it looks like I can only get 2. If this is breaking the rules by talking about a feed then go ahead and delete it my bad.

    Will this fit?

Sandbags would probably be easier than filling the blocks with concrete.

    Scanning Intelsat 9

I had another look and it was set to start scanning @ 11700, which I think is too high looking @ the lyngsat chart. Also, it says step 6, would shortening the steps help any? I'm sure it would increase the time.

    Scanning Intelsat 9

I'm just getting into this fta stuff. For some reason I can't get any results from a blindscan of 58.0W. It has a very strong signal, and if I do the quick scan I can pick up the usual cuba channel etc. But if I blindscan it doesn't even pick up any of the usual suspects. Is there some trick...

Well I think I have it sorted out now, I'm not really sure what the deal is because my measurements are way out. Heres the method I used: I'm a dork, so I have a few computers. One of which is a ultra small laptop that will fit in my pocket. I setup an MSN chat between itand one of my...

It seems like midday may be a bad time to do this as it seems I'm getting a lot of sun interference. Also what I'm doing is turning the db on the meter so it just barely reads, ie shows a reading but doesn't buzz. I hope this is right. With the sun interference I'm guessing it will show as a...

A couple questions already. If I'm using the inline analog type signal meter, are the results pretty much instant? I know you're supposed to wait 5-20 seconds when watching the on screen meter, but I would think this would be pretty quick. Does it matter where I put the meter? Currently I...

First decent day in a while, I'm going back on the roof. I may have to post some pics, we'll see how this goes. I'm going to start by switching out the lnb cable.

After making the adjustments it seems like I'm shooting too low, maybe its just me and not being used to a fta dish. It runs basically vertical now, or @ least it seems that way. 40 latitude and 24 declination.

I'm not sure I've seen lnb power in any of the menus of my stb, also, I'm not exactly sure on the declination. Since I setup the latitude incorrectly, is there a mark on the motor mast or something where I setup the declination? Looks like I've got a decent window before the rain so I'm...

Ah I think you may be right, it looks like I didn't add the little washer to my elevation screw. Unfortunately its supposed to rain tomorrow so I may not get to it until Sunday. Of course when I plan to mount a dish rain is in the forcast, we get more sun than SoCal here...

Yeah man it sucks, apparently 100 years ago it was cool to make the pitch increase as you get higher on the roof, kinda like a buddist temple or something. I can't even set anything on the roof because it will slide off. I'm in Denver so on the first angle I have it set to 40, and on the angle...

Its the Sadoun motorized system, so its a generic universal lnb, fortec star dish, the motor is the 2100 or whatever the common one is. I've tried a couple of my "true south" sats. I'm in denver so I was shooting @ 97 103 105 etc. Is getting a reading this low normal? The thing I'm most...
