    Serious Customer Service

I just had a R10, purchased in October, die on tuner 1, and D* informed me it only had a 90 day warranty. I asked why I had to sign and be bound by a two year contract and yet my 130 day old dead system is worthless. I guess a lease is good when the equipment quality is getting poorer all...

    local retailers

If you have a problem after the sale, who do you think will be easier to find and get service? A local retailer or a CSR with Dish or D*? Saying that, not all local retailers are created equal. Verify they offer a warranty on their work.

    Satellite Dish Retail information

"why would this fool want to become a retailer". Nothing foolish about wanting to get ahead. And all of us loved the business at one time or another. If you have enough good sales around you, it's worth your while to become a retailer. I recommend Dish first, because they pay better...

Please someone tell me the real difference between Dishnet and Direct tv

I have Dish and D*, and I like both in different ways. Here in East Texas, D* has more locals then Dish ( WB and UPN). I like the packaging better with D*. And I love Season Pass on my Tivo. I have the 921 with Dish, and prefer it over Tivo's slowness. But if D* would offer a good deal...

Professional Installers out there....I'm Desperate for Help

There has been lots of good advice to you. In CATV and satellite I would run a jumper and bypass all house wiring, (including the jumpers the installer made at the dish). If you get a correct signal, then you know the equipment is working. If your installer placed a ground block inline...

    921 Free Dish deal

Each 311 you get free at installation will add $5. to your monthly bill, so each will end up costing you $60. a year. You are signing a contract to keep them all fired up for 12 months. New receivers sell for $99. + S&H. Hooking up a 921 solo would use both ports on the LNB, so if you add...

Satellite Installer Job - scam or not?

These guys are overcharging you. I got $2,000,000 umbrella policy for $500. a year. Get a list of the tools required by these guys and then shop around for better prices, which should be easy to find.

    VOOM Installations

I would recommend anyone having an installer in to install their satellite TV system to document the entire installation by digital camera. This will give you proof of before and after in case of damages. A good installer will have no problem with this. All companies have problems with...

Back in my cable tv days, programmers charged per sub. I would figure it's still the same.

Got my new QUAD....easy to install?

There are two phillips head screws in the bottom of the bracket. Remove those, pull the LMB out change the coax connections over, put the lnb back on the bracket and and put the screws back in place. Piece of cake!

New to direct tv.. Got a ?

"I have to admit, in 3 years of working with 1000's of retailers, this si the first time I have ever heard someone say the DIRECTV customer service was "far better" than Dish! I know it's your opinion, but wow!" In activating hundreds of receivers with DTV and Dish, I find the Dish CSR's to...

    DirecTV or Dish DVR? Help!

I've had TiVo and a 510, and like both of them. The name based recording with Tivo is one thing I miss, but Dish is saying that'll be available soon on the 510. One thing I did notice when I switched was I had a cleaner, brighter picture with the 510 than the TiVo. But I'm waiting to see...

New to direct tv.. Got a ?

It used to be that DTV wouldn't activate a receiver without a phoneline connected and the CSR would make us test them while on the phone. Now, if you'll hook a phone line to the primary unit, they'll usually activate the additionals as well, and note them as being unable to get PPV. Once...

    Retailer for new customer plan

The bottom of page 1 in the DHP brochure says: LIMIT OF TWO DUAL-TUNER RECEIVERS PER ACCOUNT. LIMIT OF ONE DISH 510 OR DISH 811 PER ACCOUNT. You'd probably be looking at a 510 and a 322 to run three tv's with DHP. With Free Dish, you can get a 510, and (2) 301 free with a two year...

811 HD tier no longer working - maybe p263 problem

Mike, I'd have to agree with the tech. It sounds like a voltage problem to me, which usually is the coax, but could be the receiver or LNB. Run a coax jumper and bypass your old coax and see if the system still acts up.

    new 811 won't get 119 & 110 same time

If you have a second or third receiver, are they getting 119 and 110 on the switch check? If so, then the problem could be the coax run, switch/LNB or receiver. The most simple way to check is to switch one of the other receivers into the 811's location, do a switch check and see if 119 and...
