Directv Satellites - How high in the sky for NC?

After looking at the website I'm guessing it was the 119 satellite that I had problems with before, looks like it's the lowest in the sky at 31.8. It looks like Dish and Direct have a satellite in the same location for 119. Found a listing on the internet and it shows 3 HD channels -...

Directv Satellites - How high in the sky for NC?

Unfortunately the problem trees are in my neighbor's yard and I'm not sure they want me trimming their trees. Is the 119 satellite the one that provides the HD signals?

Directv Satellites - How high in the sky for NC?

Can someone tell me how high the Directv satellites would be in the sky from NC? I ordered Dish Network last winter but when the guy was out the Dish Network signal for one of the satellites was too low and would be blocked by trees. I called Directv to ask for a site survey or something...

    Charlotte Local HD Nets uplinked

I recently subscribed to Dish and am scheduled for an install. In the email confirmation they said I would get a Dish 500 for orbital locations 129.0 110.0 119.0. Will this allow me to get the HD channels when they are finally live? Or is the Dish 1000 required?

    [TWC] TWC all digital?

Greensboro / Winston-Salem have already converted so I think Charlotte isn't far behind. I heard Raleigh has also switched - since there was a posting at avsforum. Before the switch there were a lot of 9XX channels that were the regular stations. Here is a link to the local newspaper...

    [TWC] SA HD DVR feedback

I know one difference between the 8000 and 8300 is that the 8300 has an external SATA hard drive connection which the 8000 doesn't have. The 8300 also has HDMI and the 8000 is DVI only. I haven't figured out a way to take the SATA drive from the DVR and copy saved programs to a computer...

HD Equipment cost for New Customers?

I called back today - actually had to call twice. The first agent told me that I could only receive 2 HD receivers. Called back again and was told 584 for a HD DVR and 2 HD receivers. Looks like 299 for HD DVR, 149 for 1 HD receiver, and 49 for 1 HD receiver and 49 activation fee...

HD Equipment cost for New Customers?

I'm trying to figure out the cost of HD receivers cost for new customers. So far it's hard to tell from the Dish builder website it seems unless I enter my credit card information. I have 3 HDTV's in the house. So for costs it looks like 299 for a DVR box, and then 100 for two more HD...

Possible to combine Dish and Cable QAM signals?

Is it possible to combine dish and cable QAM signals onto the same line - then maybe get a splitter and one to a cablecard or QAM receiver and another to a dish box? Reason I ask is that my HD local stations are in different directions some are NE, SE, and SW. When I had Voom - it was only...

If you had a choice:Satellite or Cable

Time Warner in my area seems better. I loved the Voom channels but the Dish or Direct equipment for HD DVR is so EXPENSIVE! Picture quality of HD channels is as good as Voom - the SD channels on TW not so good. All my locals - no OTA. $8 a month for HD DVR, and now just over $7 for...

    Winston Salem NC Voom

I'm in Lewisville - a mile or two away Clemmons and I get channel 26, 12, 2, 45, and channel 36 (NBC) and 3 (CBS) in Charlotte with the standard antenna. Apparently from what I've read Fox8 is broadcasting in low power and they are supposed to be increasing it sometime towards the end of May.

    Missing Voom Channels?

I recently had Voom service installed and I've noticed that on my set some of the channels on my set aren't coming in as they are labeled in the program guide. ATMAX channel is always broaadcasting MSNBC. The Sci Fi channel is always showing a repeat of what's playing on Bravo. I get all...
