So is the 922 a good choice given my Home Distribution usage?

Well I was hoping to get the 922 for the enhanced interface and guide, but without the TV OUT I will not consider it. As for the Logitech Revue, it looks mildly interesting. I would gladly pay a one-time fee for it, but will not consider the monthly fee that Dish wants. Since I look at...

Could an Admin pls remove this thread? I updated the subject to be more descriptive and it created a second thread. Sorry. Thanks!

So is the 922 a good choice given my Home Distribution usage?

I have a VIP722, and use the Home Distribution port to send SD to a splitter box that feeds 3 SD TV's throughout the house. The unit is always in dual mode so that the other 3 TV's can watch anything they want (using IR remotes) regardless of what the main HDTV is watching/recording. I have...

Any description of what was in recent 722 software update?

Thanks! Looks like nothing of note unless you want Google TV. Google TV does look mildly interesting, and I'd probably pay $100 for the equipment (not the $179 they want) but would not pay the extra $48/yr. I tend to think long term, and at $480 over the next 10 years, I can easily pass...

Any description of what was in recent 722 software update?

I noticed the new GUI a few days ago, but didn't get a DVR event explaining what it includes, and don't see anything on the forum. Is there anything of note in the update?

Thinking of getting Dish, have questions on the 922

For me to switch to the 922 it will take a TV2 Out to distribute the signal to the many non-HDTV's in the house.

Thanks Dish Store! (922 lower price)

Yeah, I want the 922's interface (don't even care about the Sling) but with the 722's Home Distribution port that feeds my 4 non-HD TV's scattered around the home. Without that, the 922's useless (at least to me).

Work around for activating side 2 viewing.

Exactly. Which is useless to most of us who have a main HD TV and several non-HD TV's. Back to the topic, is the original poster proposing a long term usable solution to emulate the 722's home distribution feature?

Hmmm... I currently have a 722 and use the Home Distribution port to send the signal to a simple distributor that feeds the SD signal to 4 other TV's in the house via modulation on Cable 73. This way the kids can watch a different live or recorded program than the one that we're watching on...
