    Bob Cooper has passed away

I just now saw this, months later. It seems like it started with Gary Bourgois, back on November 15, 2005. Then so many others, and Bob is the latest. We talked often when I was uplinking programming from Austin. I guess this is just part of getting older.

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

That is EXACTLY what I need, thank you sir!

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

Folks...it looks like we're staying with DirecTV Stream. But we've got one issue that is a SUPER headache. It appears that it takes 14(!) punches on the remote to turn closed captioning on and off. I'm not much on voice commands, so is there way shortcut available on the remote to do this...

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

Well, it didn't even take two days. Better video, smoother interface, more channels, a DVR that WORKS. Yes, it's about $35 more a month. Big fat hairy deal. Cancelled YTTV and we're with DTV Stream. Thank you SO much, everyong!

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

I want to thank everyone here for graciously answering my questions! I started my five day trial today, I'll be working with both the Osprey box and the Roku app. If you don't see me for a while, it's because I'm busy learning about this stuff! At any rate, I'll certainly be back with a...

With tax, and I'm paying extra for NFL RedZone. The base rate is $72/mo.

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

If I wind up streaming through an app, it'll be through my Roku Ultra. But I see the DirecTV has two external streaming devices, one called a Gemini model C71KW which is an external box, and a newer one which is a dongle, called the Gemini Air. Does anyone know if there's a reason to pick one...

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

Including DirecTV Stream or DirecTV by Internet? With the possible exception of those two (that I've never seen) I'd agree.

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

What started my issues off was trying to watch Gilded Age on YTTV on Sunday night. The picture quality was nothing better than terrible. Switched over to MAX and it was somewhat better. Is there a thread around here where DirecTV satellite quality is compared to DirecTV Stream? I'd sure be...

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

That could be good news, I have two HR24s, both last fired up three years ago. I own one and the other is a lease that DirecTV said to keep. I will remember that, thank you! I'm also fortunate to have a local tech who still does DirecTV/Dish installs, just like in the old days. Perhaps he...

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

I've seen 720P in the professional arena and it can look wonderful. This wasn't a matter of resolution or just how many lines are on the screen. We're talking a complete lack of detail and blockiness in dark areas. And as for the Max app, it was certainly better, but not anywhere near the...

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

Can the HR54s still be had from DirecTV? I had one of those a few years back and liked it. If not, maybe I could pick up one off Ebay (assuming it can be authorized)?

Back from streaming (YTTV) to DirecTV? Has anyone done this?

I was just looking at FS1 on my YTTV setup this morning and couldn't help but notice how smeary the video was. This was on top of a miserable signal from HBO last night, where there was not detail WHATSOEVER in dark areas on the Gilded Age. Now I've had DirecTV, and Dish for that matter, off...

    MeTV Removed from Dish

Is it just me, or does Dish seem less...inclined...to push providers to sign these days? This thing with MeTV was what pushed us over the edge, even though the PQ from Dish on MeTV was, well, terrible. It just seems that the loss of channels has become an accepted reality among Dish customers...

Hopper 3 - any way to keep out of standby?

The title pretty much says it all. In my ideal world :), I'd like to be able to turn off the TV with the Dish remote, but NOT have the Hopper 3 go into standby. In fact, I'd like for it to remain ON 24/7 if possible. I've burrowed through the settings but don't see anything like this. Does...

Given its track record, I'd be stunned if any sports bars had Dish instead of DirecTV.

DISH Ranked #1 in Customer Satisfaction Again

Here's an experience for you. When the mess was going on this weekend, I called DirecTV to get a quote on service. The individual who answered the phone couldn't tell me if DirecTV carried NFL RedZone, he kept talking about Sunday Ticket. He didn't know the difference. THAT is what you get...

    Disney Networks Dispute Recitifed

...and this is exactly what kills Dish's tactic of saying "go ahead, remove your channels." Ten years ago, that was HBO only, CNN only, etc. Today, due to consolidation, it's a HUGE chunk of the entire programming spectrum. That simply cannot happen.

    Disney Networks Dispute Recitifed

Oh, that's part of it as well. But both have, in the past, shown that they are more than willing to cut off channels and sacrifice eyeballs. I am hopeful that THIS time they quickly figured out that there are some channels you simply cannot drop, especially with no notice as Dish did this time...

I don't think you're going to see LHN in full time HD on Dish at all. It's about to be folded into SEC Network when Texas enters the conference. No, this isn't official, but can you see the other SEC schools allowing LHN to continue as a separate revenue stream for Texas?

    Disney Networks Dispute Recitifed

If they were that close, then someone at Disney made a HUGE error. But perhaps they weren't...and are NOT...that close. The consequences for BOTH of them are just too dire to let a blackout go forward. If so, that will be an excellent lesson for both to learn.

And no, Scott, please do NOT close this topic. This is a blackout unlike any other and needs to be discussed.

And with any luck, the individuals on both sides who allowed this to happen will be fired. Or, if they are too high up to be fired, severely reprimanded. Dish touched the third rail of satellite television. It found out that it simply cannot do without sports programming from ESPN during...

Indeed, this was an error on everybody's part. With any luck, they're meeting this afternoon.
