Splitting the OTA antenna signal to 2nd TV

well the way it is if you have a two way it reduces the signal 3db meaning if you have ten db on the line you will have 7 db for each line of the splitter. You have no need for a 2 ghz splitter. You will only need a, 5-900 mghz splitter.

    Newbie question: What's a "Switch"

this is if you have more than two receivers. if you have two or less the switch is built into the LNB. This only true for dishpro equipment.

Satellite Installer Job - scam or not?

Here is my experience this is how most operate and they will likely not gouge yuoon prices. I cant guarantee this but its mostly true. I avg 800-1200 depending on cancellations and such. The insurance is average priced and not a ripoff. Hope this was a help.

Picture quality - Satellite w/coax versus cable

On average the signal strenth on the output is around 10db. Attenuation or signal loss over the 40' run will be insignifigant and the loss to the 100' run will be around 3db which should not cause any quality problems. This is of course speeaking in terms of standard definition.

    Newbie Install ?'s

This should not be a problem especially if you plan on not having a receiver in the same room as the computer. Even if you do it is still possible they just have to diplex the cable and satellite feeds together.
