n00b trying to find FOX for House MD premiere, would like to try HD cap w/visionsat

Well thanks guys! - Seriously - you just saved me several hours of tinkering. I will still get that Visionsat out of its box soon - I bought it to replace my Pansat 2500a when I thought it fried - turned out to be water in the coax. Off to check out the Dr. Who forum! ~K

n00b trying to find FOX for House MD premiere, would like to try HD cap w/visionsat

So not even the OTA signal going from FOX to affiliates in a standard feed at x-o'clock, that sort of thing? What about the Boston FOX signal? that hit a bird anywhere? ~k

n00b trying to find FOX for House MD premiere, would like to try HD cap w/visionsat

Howdy! Long time no post. Hadda baby about a year ago, or rather another baby. So no time for dish. Trying to get back in, hence my stupid question but experience to maybe pull this off. ANYWAY- I read that the Visionsat IV 200 PVR plus can pull HD onto the external usb drive, and I could...

Can't receive certain freqs on certain sats, or...

I'll have to get a meter on the end of the line I think as well then - after 100' I wonder how much voltage is actually getting out there or am I going to need some sort of amp? ~kulakovich

Can't receive certain freqs on certain sats, or...

I did wonder about my Pansat - it hasn't had heavy use and is well ventilated, but it also picks up H in the V and V in the H when I do a blind scan. If that makes any sense? The H and V pick up identical info, and I never seem to get a lot of channels compared to the Lyngsat list. ~kulakovich

Can't receive certain freqs on certain sats, or...

Hey! Iceberg! Nice to see you again! Well that sounds like a relief. I wonder what is up with AMC6 and NASAtv then. I've shot them an email, of course who knows where it will end up. I'll keep working on it, and thanks! ~kulakovich

Can't receive certain freqs on certain sats, or...

Hello everyone! I haven't been here for about a year, I had to offline my setup after another ground surge cost me my LNBs. Anyway, I am trying to get everything back in action (and in buried conduit), and ran into a problem that is sort of odd. Here's the deal. I have a norsat 20k c-band...

Mac OS X or Windows Vista

I'm with Mike123abc, install VMware and either dual-boot or just virtualize. I can have OSX and XP windows open simultaneously with XP either in the foreground (as desktop) or background (just the app windows). VMware Fusion Overview, Run Windows on Mac, Virtual PC on Mac - VMware ~kulakovich

    Mac users please

Kinda late in the game to chime in perhaps... I use Safari and Firefox. Firefox renders large lists more quickly, but otherwise I enjoy both. As for Entourage, I use it for work since it integrates with Exchange/Calendar/etc. I use Mail.app for my personal account, though I find sometimes it...

    1.2 Fast 1.2 Furious - VBox Drift

Wow - thanks - I'll have to check that out. Sadly, I was turning back to NASAtv the other day and watched the dish stop, and then slowly tick off another 12 clicks. It was alarming. It moved right off the bird and into the black. I am going to google for dp710 - if I find any confirmed fixes...

    Differences in 4DTV DSR-905,920,922

(Hi folks!!) Is the 905 C/Ku? I thought it was C only?

    Noggin, a la Carte?

Ok so I just found the "differences in 4dtv" thread, so I guess I'll be over there! Thanks to all who helped out, I am much closer to having good kids programming - just need to figure the 4dtv part, which I've managed to dodge for a while now! kulakovich

    Noggin, a la Carte?

ah - so I am getting into a 920 at the very least then? Is that still Motorolla-or-nothing? Sorry for the dumb questions - I did my homework a while ago, but I'm sure its different now.

    Noggin, a la Carte?

Hi! I do have Ku - I am guessing this is all digital though? I have a 650i - I heard that if you authenticate with your analog, you can still receive on your 2500a if you send the output from the analog to the digital - is that true? I have the GI650i, and I could hook it to my Pansat 2500a...

    Noggin, a la Carte?

Hi folks! It would seem that when I first started assembling pieces and parts for this hobby a few years ago, that our a la carte services were mighty. Now, most places only offer 20 channels a la carte, with stipulations that you have to have 4-5 other services to even be allowed to order...

    1.2 Fast 1.2 Furious - VBox Drift

Did you find an alternate solution? What are people doing to point BUD with Disecq receivers?

    1.2 Fast 1.2 Furious - VBox Drift

Shielding of servo leads, in same cable as actuator. If anyone reads this - perhaps I have to post in a different forum, but ... I am using a seven strand solid "bell wire" line to send my actuator, servo and ground, and separate RG6s for my LNBs. This bell wire is not shielded - I have...

    1.2 Fast 1.2 Furious - VBox Drift

Did you try any of the other posted tips? Swapping the wires out, switching things around, etc? I really don't want to eBay this thing to get it to do what it is supposed to do. I have an analog box as well, that could handle positioning, but that adds a level of complexity I was trying to...

    1.2 Fast 1.2 Furious - VBox Drift

that is -awesome- Ok. So I do feel a little better from your pictures. Very cathartic. I see the same guy does your lawn too. ;) Yes - I read the thread that some folks were going to get IIs, and that some folks had swapped out the wires going to the spring clip ground, though I am unsure...

    1.2 Fast 1.2 Furious - VBox Drift

I am not seeing a resolution in the previous thread, so I thought I'd drop in my two kopecks worth. My VBox (I) drifts like mad. I only go between three satellites because the drift is so bad it is not worth programming more sats until I figure this out. From AMC6, to Telstar5, to AMC10...

    Anolog vs. HD OTA distance.

And don't forget - with digital, you may get a strong signal, at horrible quality, just like with FTA - One second you are getting crystal clear television, the next artifacts everywhere, and then nothing. All because of anything from wet trees blowing around to someone stomping on a cable down...

ASC421 and the C-Band LNBF - whence KU?

I just cut/crimped/replaced the ends off my c-band line at the dish based. Corroded as all get-out. I had heat-shrunk the line last Summer, but somehow the shrink had expanded and eventually water set in. I don't think the LNB was harmed. That's what pretty much started my question. Now I am...

ASC421 and the C-Band LNBF - whence KU?

Truckracer and iammike - I'd be comfortable drilling the hole - I'd seen the ku-in-the-scalar-rings before as a non-corotor substitute. But I am getting tired of fixing all of my willy-nilly patchwork, and I always suspect my drilling, rigging, taping and etc. This is a 'once and for all' type...

ASC421 and the C-Band LNBF - whence KU?

Ok - I should better illustrate my situation: I have a Chapparal C-band LNB/Feedhorn. I have one of those goofy "retrofeeds" clamped to the underside that you can get on eBay, for Ku. I need to improve my signal. I've been doing BUD for about 3 years now, am pretty comfortable. I just fried...

ASC421 and the C-Band LNBF - whence KU?

Greetings! Happy Holidays. A question to the ASC421/C-band LNBF crowd out there - what are you doing for KU? Individual dishes? Retrofeed? How are you receiving your KU? Bracket a KU LNBF on? I am about to take the plunge. Thanks the many, Kulakovich
