Should I switch from Directv to Dish?

Chances are if you have been with Directv for 4 years and call them and tell them you are cancelling because you are moving to Dish network for a DVR, Directv will give you a free DVR with no contract - happened to my dad's friend. If they are being sticklers about it I would just go with Dish...

Anyone have their dish mounted on a tree?

Well guys, after all that the installer couldn't establish a line of site - he just looked at it and said there's just no way, so now I'm stuck with this stupid concrete pole and nothing to do with it - any ideas on how to dispose of something like this?

    Help!! Vertical Level not working

Well, I think it all worked out - I'll be happy to put a picture up tomorrow if the installer can hook me up with a line of site. I think I put too much water in the cement though :(

Anyone have their dish mounted on a tree?

Great Idea - so All I need to buy is the pole mentioned in the post and the installer will mount it in the ground wherever there's a line of site? The Apartment complex can't really complain about that..its not attached to any part of the "building". Thanks for all the help

Anyone have their dish mounted on a tree?

Thanks a ton for this information - but keep in mind some of these terms I have never heard before - for example - how do I flatten one end of the pole? What is meant by "plumbing" the pole, for example, what is the plumbness? Thanks again, I really appreciate this information. EDIT: Maybe...

How to get the Cement Ready for the Installer?

Hey all, If you read my other post about mounting the dish to a tree, the general consensus is that this is NOT a good idea - so I am sure that my only other alternative would be to have a tripod or pole in a bucket of concrete, put the dish inside there, and hope that can point the dish...

We're looking at the terrible position of my apartment and my only line of site..although my main question now has to do with the concrete, pole, etc - should I make a new thread for it?

Anyone have their dish mounted on a tree?

Do you guys think I should get a tub with concrete that I could potentially set by it - do you know if installers have tripods or do I need to call and request one? How exactly does this tub + concrete idea work - I'd like to return if I can't even get a signal. I've did some searching and it...

Anyone have their dish mounted on a tree?

This tree's hundreds of years old I'm sure, it spams up HIGH, extremely, I will try and take a picture tomorrow during the day. It might be my only choice just how my patio is setup and how I am on the first floor, and all the trees surround me.

Anyone have their dish mounted on a tree?

So I live in an apartment complex on the first floor and face north if I stand outside my patio, with many trees in the way - but here's an interesting tidbit. I mentioned there's a multitude of trees but they are very firm and hard - someone gave me the idea today that the installer should...
