Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

IT'S FIXED!!!! IT'S FIXED!!!!!!!!!! And it wasn't Dish that did a damn thing to fix it (in fact, I've yet to hear back from them again...what great tech support they've got...). It was me that fixed it -- grasping at straws and brainstorming. I will definitely be writing Dish's Corporate...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

So much for tech support. After 2 1/2 weeks they sent me the same damn cookie cutter response that they did a month ago. They didn't read my letter at all. Nice. I just wrote to them again asking that they please read my email or have a supervisor read it. After this, what's the next...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

 Well, I'm back from vacation, and it's now officially 2 weeks since I sent my letter to Dish...... they ignored it. I'll be resending it before the weekend.

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I've left the line problem alone for two weeks now. The first week out of sheer frustration and a need to get it out of my head for a while. The second week I was dealing with other things. But this week I knew I had to get back to this. Since there's nothing more I can do about this problem...

    Phone service is out

When I setup, they told me to call them if phone service ever went out at home. I'd do it even if service was only out for a day just to be on the safe side. The last thing you want is to have to argue over a $5 fee.

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I did this, everything checks out. Did this too, last night. I did this multiple times. I tested this on a few setups. Tapes played fine on all tvs when the Dish receiver isn't involved in the setup. I'm not totally sure what you mean here. If you mean I should put the RCA cable...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I've just tried the third tv. I can get a vcr to play with the Dish setup, but not to record. And the vcr works off of channel 4 while Dish works off of the video setting. I give up. Whatever the problem is with all this, I don't know. All I know is I've tried everything I can and have...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

Nope, didn't work to try an alternate vcr.... So now I'll try my third tv with this setup. Thank god we have several tvs in the house. I have the beginnings of a migraine and it's hard to even look at anything bright. I'm really at the breaking point now.

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

What I've narrowed it down to is this (and it still makes no sense!): The vcr I have requires an RCA out connection into the tv. That can't be changed. To watch a tape, you have to set the tv to the video setting. The only way I can get clear Dish Network reception is if I have the RCA...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I'm still playing with this thing.... I brought in the other tv again just to play around some more, and still had no luck. The reception is clear only when an RCA cable is connected from the satellite receiver straight into the tv set and the tv is set to video and not another channel. The...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I know it's just tv (and I rarely even watch it!)...but this is neverending. I fought with DirecTV for weeks over a service issue before cancelling with them. I was a customer for 5 years and they had no problem screwing me over despite the service contract I had with them (which covered the...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I decided to wait to post again until the tech was here. But now things are worse than ever and I spent most of my day on this, and quite a bit of it crying out of extreme frustration. Two techs showed up (one seemed to just stand around and not speak). For half the appt they told me I was...

    New "Feature" on the 522!!!

I haven't done anything yet but call phone tech support. I'm currently waiting this coming Saturday for my appt with a tech...who will hopefully NOT be an installation subcontractor of theirs!

    New "Feature" on the 522!!!

J3ff, has Dish sent any techs out to look at this yet, or suggested any fixes for it? I'm assuming that the problem with both our 522's is that we both have bad receivers (??). I only hope the tech will actually know what he's doing this coming Saturday.

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

Could it be that we have bad boxes, then? I'm relieved that someone else has the same problem as I do so I know I'm not really stuck in some bad satellite dream :)

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

The guy who installed it claimed to know nothing about the vertical lines/quality issues. He told me to call the Dish people. since I can't take off work just for Dish repair people, it has to be next Saturday. I once had a neighbor deal with the Cablevision people on a weekday for me and it was...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I tried the RCA output and got the same vertical line problem. I didn't try S video. The problem with the vcr playback wasn't the vcr -- what I was saying is that both vcrs I tested were taping the problems that I was seeing on screen, and the one vcr that I used to tape from Dish was taping...

Faint Vertical/Diagnal lines over solid colors

I'm glad I found this forum! I had Dish installed yesterday, and when the install guy completed everything, I asked him why I was getting faint vertical (and sometimes slight diagnal) lines over solid colors and patterns on screen. It's especially visible in that 1 second pause where you see...
