how would i go about figuring out the angle at which my offset dish receives it signal? is there maybe a website with a formula or something along those lines? i know there's a bunch of websites that tell you the elev, az, and skew for a particular satellite based on your lat. and long., but i...

off-topic i'm not trying to hijack this thread or anything, but how to regular fta signals (linear polarity) come down? are they straight lines, going from the sat. to the dish?

ya, i figured that 101 must not be broadcasting what i need. i thought i was pointed at 110 or 119, tho, but obviously not (i haven't gone outside with a compass to check yet). and i only have a 1-lnb directv dish. but thanks for all you guys' help anyways!

ya, i thought i could pick up something. but nope. my receiver can't pick up anything that's not vertical or horizontal polarization. crap in a hat :( oh well.

well, that would explain why i'm not getting any fta channels. shouldn't i be getting something, tho? some scrambled tp's, or something? i obviously can't use scrambled tp's, but they would at least tell me that my receiver is receiving, ya know?

what's the difference between a live tp and a non-live tp? i thought a transponder was a transponder....

oh, and yes, i use only "RG6"-type coax.

whoops. when i said "IF" in the above posting, i meant "IF input", which would be the equiv. of an "LNB in", i guess. my reciever (fortec lifetime ultra) just has "ant in" (which i would assume is for OTA broadcasts), "IF input", "IF output", and "TV out". i'm aiming for anything right now...

when i was messing around with my dish, i got the same situation (high signal level, 0% signal quality) no matter where i pointed the dish. i disconnected the lnb from the coax, and i was still getting a high signal level. it wasn't until i disconnected the coax from the receiver that the signal...
