Is it $20 per month for ETF? My contract says $10 per month. Was thinking of canceling dish because I’ll be on the road for a lot of this year and the hopper 3 with sling is not a reliable streamer.

I don’t know any reason why they have been exclusive to Amazon since they released on streaming boxes. Maybe Jeff Bezos was paying them though I can’t imagine why it would be worth the loss of potential users to have a firetv exclusive.

Dish Anywhere is fantastic. I simply throw my tiny Fire TV stick into my bag and I have my entire DVR in any hotel room. it used to be not great but about a year ago they did something magical and the buffering issues went away.

I hope that the OTA antenna works for you. I have had two of them installed with different results. On the Hopper 3 it works flawlessly. On the Hopper with Sling, new OTA recordings can’t be played until the HWS is restarted. Had no choice but to resubmit to Dish locals on the HWS.

Unplugged the HWS and then plugged in the SNAP. I don’t see any indication on the menu screen that it is activated upon restart but it must be doing its thing because the HWS definitely has an improved responsiveness.

The channel icon for CBS 5 has been replaced with the generic OTA icon. I hope that the guide data continues to flow through for the OTA version of CBS. It would be silly to cut off the guide data after so aggressively encouraging people to switch to OTA.

Most likely Dish chose not to capitulate to high retransmission fees because this is just one more way to push people into taking the free OTA install which in the long term will allow them to negotiate lower fees.

In Phoenix. The OTA antenna works fine with my H3. Others in the family have HWS and had to go back to Dish locals because OTA recordings were not playable until after a DVR restart.

If you had guide data for the channel through Dish locals then you should also have that same guide data through the OTA replacement. The whole thing should be pretty transparent to you once you get it done. You may have to go into your timers and recreate them if they were built for the Dish...

I wouldn't expect OTA to work reliably on the HWS. My mom took them up on the offer and had the OTA antenna installed and then cancelled Dish locals, now she has to reboot the HWS before it will allow her to watch any OTA recordings. It isn't a huge risk getting the OTA antenna installed...

I have tried over and over to manually pull down the newest update on the HWS in the small hope that it fixes the OTA problem before having to give up and revert to Dish locals. No luck on getting the update.
