What satellites are good to pick up with this?

Well, i might be missing some channels, but i can get 116.8 and I'm hugging Canada and Lake Superior, and i get the following FTA channels with a universal LNBF : BVN, BYU, a second BYU channel, GEB America, Hope America (english & spanish) JTV (jewerly shopping), Radio Nuevo Tiempo (radio) ...

What satellites are good to pick up with this?

You could most definitely pick up BVN @ 116.8. that is a DVBS2 1/2 FEC. That has got to be the easiest signal to pick up on KU band. 97w still has some DVBS signals, so yea, that would probably work too... But, i remember scanning 97ku and pulling in well over 400 satellite services and most...

    My New Dish Farm

Thanks for the idea.. I spent about 15 minutes.. Only found 12v - Maybe i can get a regular 18volt AC-DC and strip a coax cable myself and do the wiring?

    My New Dish Farm

I ordered a coupled. Ill let you know how they operate. I have an update. Well, I got a take-two on the switch. I hooked a voltage tester to the horizontal LNBF ports, and saw that the 18 volts expected was LOW, closer to 14 volts than 18. (not close enough to trigger the LNBF to switch to...

    My New Dish Farm

Well, i have come to the conclusion that the aspen 5x8 multi switches are problematic. I just had my 3rd one go bad over the last 10 years. I lost my Horizontal signals on my multiswitch. I've had this same kind of issue occur before. Now i have to swap out my 5x8 switch. Ugh :sorrow I'm...

Comments from a newbie to FTA

I have great luck with dishpointer, however i don't use a phone. I compare the google map. I see the line to the satellite and where it goes in the distance. I see that the line crosses a tree, or some other distinct marker, and then that's where i rotate my dish too. Works like a charm. I...

Any one not getting the Weigel channels?

Well crumb bugs. I've been so busy lately, i hadn't noticed until today! My 12' is dedicated to 101w. There is no longer anything on 101w FTA worth watching unless there is something im unaware of. Well, unfortunately, the dish is stuck at 101w until spring as I'm not gonna move the dish...

    Sat2IP app missing

Link works.. Your browser is either blocking it, or you ISP is blocking NON port 80 for http. In that case, use a VPN.

    101 SES-1 Mood

I was hearing a lot of gurgling yesterday, but we were getting dumped on snow wise. I assumed it was the weather.. That was about 2pm EST on Thanksgiving. I changed the radio service to Nostalgia on 34.5w continued on my merry way. It's coming in fine today.

NASA TV ending on August 28

I'm rarely away from home, and when im out and about, 90% of the time, it's with the wife, and the wife has a cell, so I'm not worried about a scenario like that. But, thanks for looking out... :)

NASA TV ending on August 28

I'm a home-body.. But, also, we live in a small town.. So, around here, I'm never more than a 5 minute walk from someone that has phone capabilities. And a phone would cause me a lot more grief that it would relieve.

NASA TV ending on August 28

Quite honestly, once the signal is gone, i cannot see me ever watching NASA again. Too bad.... I think its funny they say they want to give power to the minority, but not when it costs them money. I don't own a cell phone, and let me tell you what a pain that is sometimes with how companies...

    EPG discussion on Enigma2 STB's

That's twice what im paying now. We have a teenager that eats up what ever we have.. Ill wait a few years more until he moves out, in which then ill see whats up. I went ahead and kicked down his share of internet speed. We allotted him 3/4 of our bandwidth. I put it more at 50/50. I just...

    EPG discussion on Enigma2 STB's

Okay, i got it. The EPG data that was in the DW signal @ 103w was amazingly detailed. The detail that comes from the online EPG sites stunk. We watch a lot of documentaries, and need the detailed EPG guide to know if it interests us. DW doesn't have an online EPG that i could find other...

The 4180 mux went from DVBS to DVBS2. It required a re-scan on my part to get the mux back in. I noticed it on Ricks site too.

    Maybe a naive question

Oh, and there was one other thing i wanted to say. In my experience, 24 hour channels usually use encryption other than biss. But, FEED, temporary services are almost always Biss. I think because Biss is so widely handled by different commercial units. And there might be other royalty issues...

    Maybe a naive question

:hatsoff There is not much content. I think the option of having a Enigma2 satellite receiver, and streaming it to your pc is probably the most cost affective. But, you have to have a decent video card to play the 4:2:2... I haven't bothered with a 4:2:2 signal in years...

    Maybe a naive question

Ricks posts all feeds that pop up. Whether it be watchable or not. Some are in 4:2:2 , which is only watchable on a PC, and others in Biss, other encryptions and some in FTA. Sometimes a specific weekly repeatable feed that is usually biss, 1 in 10 times might be FTA. But, i appreciate that...
