Yes in trying to leave it on, but still have it automatically shutoff after a set period of time because I do forget to turn it off. But you do make a good point about the dvr being always on. So does it save any power when it's "off"?

The genie client is slower, and also doesn't support picture in picture. So I would put the genie server where you watch tv the most and want the best experience. But if you would rather use the client there instead, the drawbacks are minor enough to deal with.

I haven't checked the transponders and spot beam numbers but I imagine if they did that, it would show up on the uplink reports. Caught a few blips over the weekend but not major, quick stutters that were hardly noticeable.
